Welcome word by the conference chair
I am a consultant in vascular surgery for the last 30 years. During that time, I got interested in wound healing and wound management. I have now retired from clinical practice and run a project to improve the quality in prevention of pressure ulcers at the hospital together with tissue viability nurse Tina Jakobsen.
We have unveiled frightening results: 30% of our patients slept on dynamic mattresses and of those patients at risk 36% had skin changes. At the same time, we are geographically located in the middle of the best municipality in Denmark to prevent pressure ulcers – Sønderborg. Thus there is only one thing to do: “time to move” for better patient care.
I trust we will have great days together in Sønderborg – see you
